THE HISTORY OF TROTTERS CRICKET CLUB

In 1995 Weddel Swift Cricket Club and Knightsbridge Cricket Club amalgamated to become The Trotters Cricket Club and played in Division Three of The Cardiff Midweek Cricket League.

After a few seasons they won Division Three in 1997 followed by Division Two in 1998. They found the standard of Division One much more challenging and finished sixth in their first season.

The Trotters have now been playing in Division One for fifteen seasons, which is a great achievement for a team whose players do not play weekend cricket.

In the cup competitions The Trotters have reached three semi-finals. They played Roath CC in the final of 2006 but unfortunately were defeated. They again reached the final in 2010 but agonisingly lost on the final ball to a six by Attock CC.

In 2011 The Trotters paid a visit to The Cricketers and a sponsorship deal was agreed. They now proudly wear our name across their shirts and use the pub as their club house. The Trotters are a very sociable group and can often be seen (and heard) having a sing song in the bar!

The Trotters have welcomed players from all over the world from Wales, Scotland, England, Australia, South Africa and India. For the 2013 season the team are looking for new and younger players to strengthen the squad and help them move up the ranks in Division One.

The Trotters are a team of passionate guys who love the game and give it their all. They are also a group of friends who enjoy a great social life off the pitch too, quite often here at The Cricketers!
